Pierre structure fire

The Pierre Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on March 26. When firefighters arrived, they noted heavy smoke and fire showing from the two-story residential home. There was no one home at the time of the fire. The homeowner returned and discovered the fire after being gone a short time. “We were able to start an exterior attack on the fire and transition into an interior attack as conditions allowed,” Fire Captain Doug Gordon said. The home suffered major fire damage. Cause of the fire is not considered suspicious and is still under investigation. Firefighters were on the scene for about four hours. Fort Pierre Fire also assisted.
